| I don't wanna break an ear off my lower, besides actually buyin the intended insert to brace the lower, is there something I can use to substitute? |

got one, works great. especially for removal. |
A lot of expensive and clever ideas for dealing with tight pins. Why not just make them not so tight? I've spent some time polishing, but just tapping with a hammer or a quick pinching in a vise makes them a LOT easier to hammer (or press) in. There's no stress once installed, why cause unnecessary stress installing ??

or get a trigger guard that is designed to be screw assembled from the get go:

Block of wood to support the bottom ear and the trigger guard positioned correctly in between the ears in order to support the top ear and you can bang on it all day long.
I like putting a dab of stiff grease over the hole and sticking the pin in it, so it will stand up straight when starting it. The grease also helps the pin slide through easier. Make sure the trigger guard hole is aligned perfectly in the hole too so the pin doesn't bind up when it tries to enter. |

+1 for this. before i went this route, i used a roll of painters tape as support. Seemed ideal since i had to use the tape to prevent scratching the lower anyway. |

For the same money (or less. I paid $34 otd) you can get the Harbor Freight Arbor Press, GO HERE and it will also do the forward assist pin in the upper as well. Works fantastic! |
