Just to let everyone know, the Troy Fourth of July discount is still good. You can stack 4 different codes. The codes are:
FOURTH FOURTH-EM FOURTH-PR FOURTH-SM |
|
pretty sure ya can't stack all the discounts, the computer might let you add them all, but...
"This Sale is for retail customers only and cannot be combined with any other offers. Discount does not apply to Aimpoint, Bio-Circle & select VTAC products. Only retail customers are eligible to participate in this promotion." |
|
Well we'll have to see, the codes did stack and their computer allowed me to check out with the adjusted price. Here's want I was charged after check out.

I screwed up my order, I ordered a set of micro sights instead of the regulars. If they cancel the order fine, if they send them then I will offer them up for trade. Anyone try the micros on a AR? Just noticed I did the same thing after reading your post, in my rush to take advantage of this deal. Damn. |

Sounds like nothing's getting through:
"Dear Valued Troy Customer, Thank you for your recent order on troyind.com. We appreciate your patronage and hope you and yours enjoyed your Independence Day. The email notice you received this weekend after your order was placed was an auto message from our system alerting us to which products you wish to receive. When our sales associates process your order this week, you will receive a final invoice. They will add a free BattleMag® to each order, apply a promo code to deduct 25%, and adjust shipping to free UPS ground if your order total exceeded $100. Troy Industries does not finalize orders or charge credit cards until the order is ready to process. You may, however, now notice a hold on your account. Your card will only be charged at time of shipping. Because we were offering such a deep discount for Independence Day – 25% - and our Independence Upper at such a competitive final price point - $499 – we will only allow one promo code to be applied to each order, as advertised. We understand that some confusion lies in the fact that you may have seen more than one Troy promo code online this weekend. Five codes were created for five groups with each group receiving the same 25% off discount, special and free offers. These unique codes will help us understand our marketing efforts and influence future advertising and sales initiatives. The terms of the sale were clearly stated to all five groups with the standard restrictions including "cannot be combined with any other offers". Thank you for your support of Troy and for your understanding. Again, we apologize for any confusion. If you have any questions or wish to discuss your order with a sales associate, feel free to call us at 866-788-6412 during our normal business hours M-F 8:30 - 5 or email us at [email protected]. Best regards, All of us at Troy" |

Same here. I don't think I'll cancel my entire order. I ordered a 15" and a 9" VTAC, so I figure I'll keep the 15" since it's the one I really need.
Sucks. I hate to be that guy, but I'd be pretty pissed if they honored even one stacked order rather than none. I realize they'd take a big hit by honoring all the orders they got, but I wish I'd known earlier so I could've gotten into a few of the other sales going on. |

Received one of them as well. Considering some of their other sales in the past, even at the combined discounts I doubt they would take a big hit, maybe even still make a few pennies on it. Would have been a lot of positive PR though. Can't say I'm happy with the tone of the email. Basically blaming the customer for not going to look for the fine print regarding what could be combined with which. The checkout process clearly allowed the offers to be combined or it would not have accepted the discount codes. Cancelled my upper order. That's 2 strikes now for Troy. First the Dick's fiasco with the Troy carbine and now this. Seems Troy is not for me. Oh well. It was worth a try. |

Did anyone leave their order "as is" to see what would happen? I was wondering what Troy would end up doing. You're still hanging on thinking they will "give" you something? It was a glitch in the system they did not see and when the tons of orders came pouring through, I bet they nearly(or possibly have) shat their pants when they came back to work the next day. After the Dick's drama, the drama with hiring and supporting a moron, and if you still think Troy will just wing it and say "heck, for you people who's still leaving your orders as is, we'll go ahead and be nice and honor our mistake with the computer glitch" and to those who cancelled, tough luck Better chance winning the lotto.
My brother-in-law texted me about this and placed a big order...I didn't get anything because I knew it was most likely a glitch that Troy would cancel all orders, in addition to not supporting them due to the other reasons I mentioned. |

The problem is this isn't the first time this has happened to Troy. Troy just proves over and over why they shouldn't get any more business. |
| I just can't believe that even after their 25% off code it's still not a great price. Why charge MSRP when other vendors have the same product for cheaper even with that discount code. Won't be buying any Troy products as there are many other companies that sell better stuff for far less money! |

No, I'm not holding out for anything. I simply want to know if anyone, who might be, has seen any movement on their orders. I have no prior experience with them and have no knowledge of the previous issue you referenced. My order was for that advertised Alpha upper. I knew it was probably too good to be true and so, I'm not really bothered by it. I was just curious if anyone actually got a specific call or email regarding their order or, if any got through. |
| I like Troy's products but am not Troy fanboy to follow them blindly but with that said alot of bashing for what they did. Troy is not the only site to sell their products at msrp, alot of places do that. They did offer 25% discount which isnt bad and better then most did for the July 4th weekend. "WE" (myself included) tried to roll the dice and take advantage of a mistake/error that they did not know about. Im sure just about everyone knew that chances were slim to none. They probably stood to lose thousands upon thousands of dollars. I dont blame them one bit for doing what they did. Like one of the posts above said I bet they walked in next day and their jaws hit the floor. It was a gamble, we lost, doesnt mean they should be held accountable for us being sneaky. Could they have maybe sweetened the pot abit, sure, but they didnt. No biggie. Im sure a few business owners use these forums would like to read what they think they should have done |

Doesn't matter if it's Troy, or Seekins, or Spikes, they are the manufacturer of their parts and brand and will always sell their products for what the MSRP is, because they set that price. Manufacturers don't normally sell their products direct, and only to distributors/vendors...but this standard has changed and many offer direct sell now. In order to protect their dealers/distributors/vendors, the manufacturers cannot offer "street prices" because doing this will undercut and affect business of their dealers. 25% is a great discount offer from any manufacturer. Talking about taking a hit..
I recently bought several shirts from Ralph Lauren online when I found about a great discount sale, about 65% off. Google this and you will find out what I am talking about. I only found out later that the discount code was an "employee discount code" that was leaked out and Ralph Lauren found out the next day after receiving a large influx of orders. They immediately deactivated the code, but by then hundreds of thousands of orders had already went through using the code and RL still honored almost all the orders placed with the code. I did get my 7 shirts, shipped out the next day, and arrived in pretty little boxes with the shirts neatly wrapped in paper with a fancy ribbon securing it. Lots of details and effort went into shipping their products, regardless if it was bought at a steal of a price. Sure, they still made some profit off of this, granted they lost out on hundreds of thousands, if not millions, in potential profits. This is just one example of a recent event I experienced that is similar to this Troy incident. Again, I wouldn't have and didn't purchase anything from Troy, either way; but, can't blame Troy for not following through with the mistake. If they did honor it, it may have turned out for the better for them in the long run as it would show class act and draw some of the negativity away from the mess they created. oh well. |
