Greetings everyone. I am in the process of building my first AR15 upper. Below are some pictures of what I have so far, but I have some questions to ask before I am done. I am going for a DMR style setup.
First off, I will give you a list of the parts I am using for my upper. Barrel: BCM 20" 1 in 7 twist Rifle length gas tube BCM Low pro .750 gas block MI T series 15" rail So here are the questions. First, I have seen videos of installing a barrel. I have seen multiple steps in some that are not in others. Do I need to torque the barrel, break it, torque, brake multiple times? Also I just wanted to grease it with something I can pick up at a local hardware store. I know to avoid graphite products for this. Also when putting my barrel on, do I only grease threads or do I put it on what goes in the upper as well. As I have more questions, I will post them. All of my parts get here Friday afternoon, so we will see what happens. Below are pics of by project so far. http://i1114.photobucket.com/albums/k528/myfragisfubar/Mobile%20Uploads/20140626_013153.jpg http://i1114.photobucket.com/albums/k528/myfragisfubar/Mobile%20Uploads/20140626_013139.jpg http://i1114.photobucket.com/albums/k528/myfragisfubar/Mobile%20Uploads/20140626_013130.jpg |

TM 9-1005-319-23&P will assist you in all aspects of assembling your weapon.
In summary, the TM instructs to grease the threads, torque the barrel nut to 30 lbs ft, loosen the nut, torque the nut to 30 lbs. ft., loosen the nut, and torque to 30 lbs. ft. If the gas tube is not centered within one of the barrel nut's grooves. Continue to tighten the barrel nut until it does, but do not torque past 80 lbs ft. If you go to far when aligning the gas tube, do not back the nut to get it aligned; loosen the nut all the way and retorque to 30 lbs ft. to restart the process of aligning the gas tube. The loosen, tighten 3 times is to limit the barrel nut from backing. |

The mil-spec grease specified in the TM is an aviation grade grease that is compatible with aluminum and is correct for the torque spec given.
If your local hardware store carries grease that meets the mil-spec you are GTG. I generally use a light coat of grease on the BE. |

Thanks for the help everyone. I ordered a small tube of the 33ms grease off of ebay for like 3 bucks. I got all of my parts today, but I was sent the wrong rail kit by midway |
