I decided to change up my carbine build and add a 15" length UTG Slim rail. I'm stuck as to what style low profile gas block I should use. I have concern that the type that has the set screws in the bottom will come loose and slip with use so I had hopes that I could find someone the manufactured a low profile that would pin up in the same location of the stock mil spec front sight post. Can you guys point me to someone that manufactures one  that would just pin on similar to the original fsp? Also I had thought about cutting down my fsp but was concerned that I would run into clearance issues as the UTG rail seems to leaves very little clearance.

If you're not set up to drill a lpgb for pinning, rainier and adco will do it for a nominal fee.

Rainier also sells a jig; you'd need a #31 drill, a 2/0 taper reamer and pin.

If you were in MD I'd say bring it by and I'll hook you up but that's a bit of a drive.

How about cut your FSB down and not have to remove it it spend money on a new gas block. There are lots of threads that explain how to do it with a dremel and a cut off wheel.

I could cut it down but don't really want to since it is a Colt and if I wanted to ever return it back to barrel. Also I would have to remove anyway since I'll need to install the new nut on the barrel for the rail to mount.

May just give the low profile a shot and hope it holds tight to the barrel

If I were you, I'd stick with shaving the FSB. You already have a matching/pinned FSB/Barrel. That's the most secure way/combo to have! I'll take pinned over clamp/set screw any day. Unless it is ONLY a comp shooter (as clamp on's have shown to be a tad more accurate due to no barrel disturbance). But for anything that you think you may depend your life on.... pinned (if given the choice). Just my .02

I've fit an SLR Sentry 7 gas block and a Vltor Gas block under two different UTG Pro Super Slims. If you don't need an adjustable, and you don't really, either clamp on version works perfectly. Only have 100-150 rounds thru each, no slips yet. Get the Vltor, got mine from Primary Arms at $63 where every one else wanted 89 or more.
