Here is my $538 build

$75 CMMG lower

$40 PSA blemish stripped upper

$93 Tactical Ambush melinite mid length barrel

$40 PSA lpk

$30 Mag pul fde furniture (bought used of Facebook)

$80 Aim surplus BCG

$80 13" head down free float forearm

$100 in misc. Parts (gas tube,forward assist,etc)

Total around $538

Had some small spare parts laying around that saved some money but everything else was bought from email alerts. Still have to get some sights, and mount a light. The Bushnell was put on temporarily for function testing I run 100 rounds just for function check at slow fire and a couple of mag dumps and run flawless. Will put it on the bench for accuracy test next weekend.

are you including shipping in that? I thought i was a deal hunter but that's good work.

No the upper and bcg were bought with other parts couldnt really figure the shipping cost, the barrel and forearm maybe $20 in shipping for both so you could add $40 or so to the total for shipping.

How is the gas block done?  Is it a clamp on or pinned?

Great job I'm looking to help my son put one together this summer in the $600 price range.

It shouldnt be hard with the deals floating around, but some of my cost was saved from buying a piece here and there, gun shows, gun stores, friends changing parts off their guns, if I see parts for sale cheap I snatch them up never know when you will need them.

IMO, clamp-on gas blocks are very secure.  Just put a drop of blue thread locker on the clamping screws to keep them from backing out. - CW

Accuracy testing produced 1/2-3/4 groups at 50 yards from sand bags. Off hand I was shooting 1-1 1/2 inch groups with the trs 25, not bad for a sub $600 build. I was using american eagle 55 grain and put another 200 rounds through the gun with zero issues.

How is the Aim surplus $80 BCG working out ? I need to get bolt for my build and really don't want to spend $200

I've only got 400 rounds through the gun but it has run flawless. The stacking looks good and extractor feels good. To me its as good as any that came with my colts.

That is my kind of gun! Cheap and effective... Bravo, sir, bravo

It's difficult to build a complete rifle in a $500-600 range without searching and waiting for deals and the one thing I always forget to factor in when I map out a savings goal is sights haha

Running YHM clamp-on gas blocks on both my rifles.  Just use the blue loctite on the screws.  No problems whatsoever.

I dug a little deeper in the spare parts bin and found some magpul sights. Picked up a $10 blackhawk offset flashlight mount and an old G2 had a spare blue force sling. Also put a Vortex strikefire I had laying around on it. All in all I'm really liking it and if it wasnt for so many spare parts on hand it would have cost quite a bit more but the basic rifle build itself was a very low budget build and seems to be pretty good quality.

Also giving the AFG a try also found in parts bin
