Hey everybody I'm new to building ARs and I wanted to start a build this summer. I've been doing a lot of research and I think I have all the parts picked out that Ill need but I would really like feedback on what you guys think and if I'm missing anything or if I should change anything! All tips, advice, and criticism is welcome!

Here are the parts I have picked out so far:

MEGA Arms Forged Lower Multi-cal. Receiver
CCMG Lower Parts Kit
BCM Stock Hardware Mounting Kits (mil-spec)
Magpul MOE Carbine Stock
Special Ops Tactical Premium 16" Melonite URG w/12.6" GPX Rail[/URL]
w/Special Ops Charging Handle and Bolt Group
Magpul PMAGĀ® 30 AR/M4 GEN M3, 5.56x45 Magazine

You need sights and/or an optic if you plan on shooting it. :)

Sound like a very good start.

Looks like a good start man. Post pics on your progress.  I'm in the middle of my first build as well. All i need now is barrel, handguard, and sights.

Ditto on the sights / optics.
I personally prefer the Magpul CTR stock over the MOE because of the friction lock,  less wobble and rattle.   Just feels a little more solid IMHO.

chris:  I suggest you buy a matched set of Mega upper and lower stripped receivers, then build up from there.  Assembling your own upper is actually easier IMO than assembling a complete lower.  That way you can select exactly the barrel, handguard, etc. you want.  Plus you will know how it all went together which helps with follow on maintenance and upgrades.  Tools for the upper include a bench vise, a receiver block and a barrel nut wrench.  For my SLR handguard, I used an ordinary crescent wrench.  Once you build an AR from scratch, you will use the vise and receiver block over and over again.

For a barrel, I'd go with one from AR Performance, Green Mountain, Wilson Combat, White Oak Armament or Rainier Arms.  For a handguard, I recommend the newest designs from SLR or Bravo Company.  Handguards with fixed rails at all 4 cardinal points are passe.  good luck - CW

With how close you are, why not order everything from Palmetto State or buy a complete lower?

Because if he did that it wouldn't be a build.

My biggest tip.

Don't worry about the upper.. concentrate on the building out the lower 100%. Then move to the upper as it requires mostly different tools.
With the overwhelming amount of parts out there.. its hard to narrow things down.
