Hey all,
I have a dumb question. This is my first build and it has been going great till now. I am stuck with a low profile gas block with a non-free floated barrel. I attached the barrel and torqued as stated, but the gas tube does not coincide with the holes in the low profile gas block. Not only that, but I don't have a roll pin to even pin it in place. All I got was the gas block, tube and round washer-like thing that I'm not 100% sure on. Please don't laugh. =( Anyway, here's the pics: http://i.imgur.com/DnJfSpq.jpg http://i.imgur.com/1YEBfXm.jpg As you can see, the hole that looks to be for a pin doesn't like up with the tube... Anyway, I'm not 100% what to do, so I thought I'd ask here. I've searched all over trying to figure it out and I just can't. Thanks for any help! |
| Camera angle is fine, the pin hole is too low, my advice send it back and get a name brand block. Round washer thing is a hand guard cap btw. Do yourself a favor and save a couple of more bucks and buy a free float hand guard/forearm rail. In the end you will be more satisfied going free floated. |

akeefer: I suggest you pick up a different gas block, along with the little roll pin that fixes the tube inside the GB. If your build is going to have a conventional handguard (I like the Magpul MOE models), one that clamps on between the little round end cap you have (in front) and the delta ring (in back), then pick a GB with a built in front sight. The little end cap is sandwiched in between the GB and the shoulder on the barrel just aft of the journal the GB fits on. The gas tube passes through the round hole in the end cap. Depressing the delta ring with your bare fingers, so the handguard halves can fit inside, is somewhat difficult. You may need one of the tools made for that job. See examples linked below and keep asking questions as you go. good luck - CW

| I got a gas block off amazon and it turned out I paid a premium price for a knockoff or possible air soft piece of junk. I will never buy gun stuff or probably anything off amazon again. Get a known quality lowprofile gas block from a reputable source and go free float... Now's the time while its all apart |
