Hey all, is there anything specific about the different manufacturers lower parts kits? In this instance I am curious about the differences between the Phase 5 Tactical LPK and the Spikes Tactical LPK.
Both of these companies I consider quality companies with quality parts. But ones $65.00 and the other is $108 (at Amazon). What makes these two kits so much different to warrant a $43 buck difference. I have been looking into this but the information doesn't seem to be consistent. I read a lot of posts that say they all come from the same place. They are all made of the same materials. Spikes are Chromed or Boron coated and then there is the brand name tag that makes one cost more because people associate Spikes with the best BCG's so therefor the rest of their parts must be of equal quality. I am looking for a good LPK to put in my SBR, I have a trigger from Geissele and am looking for the filler parts, but just not sure what to spend on to get the same quality that the trigger is. It's a Geissele Hi-Speed National Match - Match Rifle Trigger. Anyway, thanks for the opinions and any industry insider knowledge someone might want to pass on! |

If you already have a trigger why buy a entire lower parts kit? Buy one from white oak armament that doesn't include the fire control group for like 30 bucks. Or if you are going to add your own trigger guard, ambi safety and pistol grip just pick up individual parts. Especially if you are also picking up things like a seeking bolt catch and bad pins.
To answer your question though it is probably mostly just pricing differences. The spikes kit is available other places cheaper(75 bucks from spikes). Practically, I think the only difference is the spikes uses spiral roll pins if I remember right. A lot of people respect the quality of white oak kits. Some are scared of ordering from them as you check out without knowing shipping charges. They ship it at actual cost by usps so it is cheap. |

I think the difference is coming from where you're shopping for it at (Amazon 3rd Party seller).
Try some of the forum sponsors and I think you'll quickly find a better price on the Spike's kit than what you've linked to. As for which of the two you should go with, I don't have an answer for that. Both companies make quality parts, I've used Spikes LPKs before and liked them. I think you're probably fine either way. |
