I am trying to do some research on what it takes to put together a side charging upper. My issue is I don't know what the knob or charging element of the system is called. Can someone inform me so I can continue researching?
Also, to me it seems like you just need a BCG that allows the knob to be screwed in and then an upper that has the appropriate cut outs. Is that correct?

| probably better to buy something pre made. You could just buy a tap, drill and thread a hole, put on a knob from the hardware store - after cutting the side of the upper. I don't like the idea of a reciprocating charging handle, but it would work. |
