I've only built one rile to date, and I don't really want to pay for optics because I'm a college student and can't afford them. I wanted to see what anyone else has done on here. Also, I had a question about my Samson Keymod Rail.

My only build:

DPMS Oracle parts kit

Aero Precision lower

Magpul MOE+, CTR, BAD lever

Troy flip up front and rear

Samson 15" Keymod rail

I also was concerned about the gab between the rail and the upper. this is after about 500 rounds.

This is after I tapped it back down with a rubber mallet. http://i1351.photobucket.com/albums/p783/hyde097/photo2_zps1fcb2b71.jpg

Should I be concerned with that gap? I look forward to seeing others builds as well.

I wouldnt worry about that gap. Ive seen worse

Im running "irons only" on my SBR, PRI front flip up and Wilson Combat BUIS.

Pretty much any A1 or A2 will be Irons only. Many will build an A3/A4 with A2 Carry handle

Try to torque those allen screws down a little bit more on the handguard. I have a samson EVO and noticed mine worked its way out some. I slid it back down and retorqued on it some. Hasnt moved since. I was worried about it chewing up the copper helicoils in it, but I've even removed it since and reinstalled it and its just fine.

I have had a few of those Samson rails and they have never moved on me. Try tightening the 2 big screws more and when you have it where you want tighten the smaller one. I am pretty sure that small set screw is to prevent what happened to you.

Anyway nice rifle. I love open sights and offhand shooting. Anyone can shoot off a bench, bipod, vise, or whatever and almost every AR shoots MOA or better.  Offhand with open sights is where it takes skill.

It does seem concerning considering that it did that after almost 500 rounds. I tightened the screws down quite a ways and we'll see how it goes from there.

I torqued the two screws on my Evo rail, starting with the one closest to the receiver, almost until each side of the rail was touching itself. (if that makes sense) I have put about 400 rounds through the gun with about 100 of those being rapid fire. I have not noticed any movement in mine. You may just need to torque those screws some more. If you are going to keep only iron sights, you dont want that rail to move.

I just re-watched Samson's installation video and it said that they should be touching. I'm about to go fix this right now. I always thought that was a bad idea but if they say so....
