| I have a sabre defence 24" bull barrel with a split extension, since the gas port is drilled and sabre is no longer in business who will attach a new extension? |

I have tried some, however I keep getting the same answer "since its not our barrel, and the gas port is already drilled it will be difficult" I understand it will be difficult however, thats why I would pay you hahaha, I will try them though, thanks. Difficult is usually code for more $$$ in custom gunsmithing than buying a new barrel. Up to you to decide if it's worth it, once they come back to you with estimates. Very cheapest way to reuse that barrel would be if they weld up the gas port, then they could install a new barrel extension, ream the barrel face for bolt clearance and re-ream the chamber to spec (both steps will likely be necessary installing a new barrel extension on a used barrel), and then drill a new gas port timed for the new barrel extension. Oh, and then you've got to use a clamp-on front sight base, unless they also weld up the old taper pin holes. |

I've only had piss poor experiences with Sabre barrels so I'm not surprised. Quoted:

...sabre defence... I've only had piss poor experiences with Sabre barrels so I'm not surprised. Then I wonder why anyone would want to salvage it? |

You have two options:
1. Pay someone ~$150-$300 ($20 extention, $1 pin + labor, $50 an hour, worst case it won't line up and the sholder needs to be set back and rechambered - 2-6 hours labor) 2. Buy an extention ($21) and extention wrench($50), 150 lb torque wrench ($60) and try to fix it youself, assuming it lines up. Unless the barrel is pratically new and shot amazing groups, I'd just turn it into "art" of some kind it or try to sell it as-is. You'd be around the same cost or less to just buy a brand new barrel. It can certinally be fixed, it's just a matter of cost vs reward. |

This is the only problem I have ever had with them, had a 20" gov that shot quite well, interested in your problems? Then I wonder why anyone would want to salvage it? Quoted:

Got ahold of Compass Lake and they will fix it for $50 thanks for the help. The only way I see to get the gas port in the right spot is to weld the old one, torque a new BE to 150 1bs. and then drill a new gas port in the right location. If they do that for $50 you got a bargain. |
