While visiting my father we put together our ARs.  My fifth and his first AR.

His is made from a Surplus A2 upper, Tactical Machining stripped lower, PSA upper and lower parts kits, standard A4 furniture and sights, Double Star 16" lightweight barrel with an A2 flash hider, and a gooseneck optics mount for when he gets his red dot.

Mine is a Cerro Forge flattop upper, a Tactical Machining stripped lower, PSA upper and lower parts kits, MagPul MBUS Gen 2 rear sight, 5 position unfinished receiver extension, the forend is a Centurion Arms C4 rail system, Double Star 16" lightweight barrel with a Troy Medieval flash hider.

We took them out to the range the next day and the sights were right on for windage, they just needed a slight adjustment for elevation.  Groups at 20+ yards (furthest distance at the indoor range) were nice and tight considering our vision and lack of optics.

It was a great bonding experience and he hasn't stopped smiling.  Neither have I.

I could tell you guys had a great time doing that project together.  My dad and I are talking of building him one and when my son is old enough we will do one together.

I'm sure that was fun,  I've been really thinking of doing this with my dad actually.

I built an AR w/ my father at Christmas time. We had a blast. Great time and thought of that when I saw your post/pics. Thanks for sharing.
