Hello all,

I am getting ready to tear apart my Rock River Arms Coyote to put on a new ATI hand-guard, and low profile gas block however I have run into a problem. As stated I have the RRA Coyote with the hogue hand-guard and vortex flash hider. I am absolutely unable to remove the flash hider. I have tried and tried to get it to come lose and it will not. To the point i fear for breaking parts in the gun. Does anyone have any tricks for removing the vortex flash hider? Is it not threaded? Could it be welded? Also the hogue handguard is supposed to unscrew from its barrel nut and it is also on as tight as can be. Does anyone have information for removal of these parts?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Sam

How long is your barrel?  If it's 14.7", the flash hider is either pinned and welded, or soldered with 1100 degree solder..

It is the 16 inch barrel.

Okay, so your barrel length is okay.  I would email or call RRA and get their input...

To anyone who reads this, I just spoke with an RRA technician today and he states the following.

The vortex flash hider by design self tightens with every round shot down range, they are not welded or soldered, but with the amount of pressure behind it you have to shock it with a wrench. As for the houge hand grip he suggests using a strap wrench and spinning it off in one piece.

Hope this helps someone in the same position i am.

Thank you all for your help.
