I'm on a tight budget so I wanted to start out with a basic rifle
After reading a lot of info on the forums and watching lots of youtube videos on reviews and how to's,...I decided to start changing things around. The next things for me to add will be a Geissele trigger, Burris QD scope mount, and more ammo through it So far this is what is on it: Magpul ACS-L stock Hogue grip BCM mid upper Surefire compensator Badger Ordnance extended charging handle Knights Armament trigger guard Vortex Sparc red dot for close range shooting UTG 6-8" bipod |
|
So I weighed it on a scale set up like in photo but without a mag and it came out to 8.4 lbs and in stock form from factory, the Stag model 3 weighs 6.1 lbs.
I set this up to be as light as I could with the changes made but instead gained weight which I guess is ok cause I didn't want to load it up with all kinds of bells and whistles. Instead I just wanted form and function overall http://www.cre8ivefotos.com/project_ar15/RJM_5282.jpg |

added some flip up offset BUIS, some no name brand I found on amazon. Wanted to keep the price low since they are only for back up should anything happen to my red dot or the scope while in use. They are pretty solid and I will see how they hit target next time I get to the range.

| Nice looking build. Why are you looking to change the Stag compensator? I have the same one and like it, but i guess i don't have a lot to compare it to. I also have a Strikefire mounted right now, but will end up with a 2-7x32 Crossfire II in a week or so. The Strikefire belongs on my other rifle. |

Why are you looking to change the Stag compensator? Thanks!!......and I'm just waiting delivery on the muzzle brake below that I found from SS Tactical http://www.cre8ivefotos.com/project_ar15/ss%20tactical%20muzzle%20brake.JPG |

UPDATE: added the Gunfighter Mod 3 large charging handle.....huge improvement over stock. Highly suggest you get one if you don't already have one.

I'm truly ignorant of what i'm about to ask, but aren't those 45 deg BUIS supposed to be on the left side of the rifle for a right handed receiver? It's by choice of which side to place it on whether you are right or left eye dominant.....besides that, think about how it would be if the sights were angled on the left side and you were holding the handguard with your left arm, your left arm would be pretty much nearly in the way of the sights. With the sights placed on the right side for a right handed shooter, to use the sights you simply rotate the rifle counter clockwise and aim. No part of your arms is in the line of sight |
