Got my lower put together now starting upper. I have my barrel nut but it didn't come with any specs on torque for install. Is there a generic foot pound torque or are they brand specific?

Minimum torque for a standard AR-15 barrel nut is 30 ft/lbs.  The maximum is between 65-80 ft/lbs.  It is recommended to "pre-set" or pre-stretch the threads of the upper by torquing and then loosening the nut three or so times before the final torque to line up for gas tube installation...

30-80 lbs. Whatever in that range will allow the gas tube to fit straight into the hole on the upper receiver.  Be sure to lube the threads on the receiver first, and then torque the nut to 30 lbs and back it off 3 times before final torguing to make sure the barrel extension is fully seated before final assembly.  Use aero shell 33 grease if you can get it.
