So I built my first AR around a year and a half / two years ago. It was an SPR with a heavy white oak .950 diameter stainless steel 18" barrel. Put a heavy optic on it and had a little fun with it. I actually managed some pretty sweet groups best was around .75 MOA generally an MOA gun occasionally just under. I was pretty happy with my first build and it pretty much did what I wanted. It was a super budget build no fancy parts with the exception of the barrel. Had a primary arms scope on it etc etc.
Anyway fast forward about 8 months and I decided while that build was what I wanted, what I wanted wasn't that build anymore. It was just too heavy to do much with accept drag it out to the range and shoot, certainly wasn't going to lug that 11 pound gun around the woods too much (though I did on a few occasions) and I decided I didn't really need that monster barrel on an AR to produce decent accuracy.
So after selling the upper and lower off that build, I built this:
It's got a compass lake engineering 16 inch medium profile 5r rifled barrel, samson evo handgaurds, the rest is milspec / magpul stuff. Oh and a fenix tk-15 light.
Anyway I sold the optic off it a while ago during the crazy gun buying (and ammo buying) as not only could I not afford to shoot it I couldn't buy ammo if I wanted to. The funds went to other non firearm related projects.
However since it's all calmed down now and ammo can be had for nearly pre bat shit crazy prices as well as reloading supplies becoming available again, I decided to dust it off (literally just spent 20 minutes wiping the dust off it) and get it back out to shoot. I've missed it dearly.
Anyway as of right now I need to get an optic for it again, I think I want to go a semi spr rout with this gun, its got a nice enough barrel there isn't any reason I can't go plink at 500 yards. I'm thinking a 1-4 power or maybe 3-9 at most. As this is primarily a range toy (possibly hunting) I don't need some expensive optic, I'm going to try to find something on the EE for a good price, maybe a leatherwood CMR 1-4 or something of the sort.
So aside from all of that I'm also going to finally get to do some reloading. I purchased a lee anniversary kit right about the time of all the crazyness and so I never got to actually reload anything, I cleaned and resized about 200 brass but never got to buy primers / bullets and actually reload any. I'm pretty excited to finally get to do it. I'd like to try to get some nice accurate loads worked up and try shooting this gun at some longer ranged as mentioned.
So here is the kit as it stands, only have a few mags and about 100 rounds saved that I decided not to shoot as I wouldn't be able to buy more at the time.
So I guess this is just a "Hello again" thread, after having been absent from the black rifle world for about a year, I'm pumped to get back into it. It's always been a difficult hobby for me to be in as I don't have a lot of money, but none the less a lot of fun.
Side note, anyone ever painted these seekins lowers? The damn roll stamp is so shallow and wide it makes it difficult to use the "fill the grooves and wipe away the excess" method, I'd like to paint this one up if I can figure out a way.

Thanks hoss, can't wait to get this gun back out and shoot it again! I only got to shoot around 200 rounds out of it after building it before ammo was impossible to get.
