Anyone using these, can give me an idea if there a decent barrel or any experiences? Couldnt find a whole lot on them and the 2 reviews from Midwayusa one was really good and the other was saying very poor accuracy. Starting a mid-length project and not a lot of barrels in stock.
Thanks for the help |
| I wrote a review on the m4 contour 1:7 16" barrel that i believe i ranked 3/5 stars (i have not sighted the gun in yet but i have run ammo through it). The barrel looks good overall but i had issues with 3 different gas blocks fitting the gas port diameter of the barrel. I had to use a rubber mallet and apply alot of force to slide the gas block down to where it should be located. It may be a 1 in a million that was out of spec. but i've never had this issue with a barrel in the past and i tried 3 different manufacturers .750 gas block. |

Not that my review is going to be much good...
I just bought and installed a 7.5" barrel. I haven't shot it yet. Fit and finish was all good for me. I was able to blow through the gas tube easily. I hope I don't have an issue with it like the poster above. I will find out this weekend. I am a bit worried now. As long as I don't have an issue, I will buy again. What gas block did you go with in the end cschelk2? |

What gas block did you go with in the end cschelk2? I had three different .750 gas blocks that were all set screw type; i wish i had a clamp on available. I tried BCM, RRA, and YHM. They all fit the same so i pounded the YHM one on and called it good. Thinking back a little i actually opened up the gas port too (i've never done that before) because no matter what i did my carbine was undergassed and not cycling properly. As i stated in my review on midwayusa; i would have returned the barrel had i not dinged it up installing the gas block. All that being said its for a truck gun build and it seems to function ok now but i haven't put it through more than a box or two ammo. |

Granted it was a different barrel. If you still have issues, I would at least shoot them an email. I had a few questions and they got back to me pretty quick. OP, search for Adams Arms barrel reviews (there is a few from arfcom), they sell the Voodoo barrels. I think Voodoo Innovations just started their own webpage market, which is why it is hard to find reviews. |
| Thanks for the replies. This is gonna be my first build so trying to go thru and get as many answers as possible before I get all the parts in. Got my upper, lower, and bolt carrier today. Went with Aero upper and lower and a spikes bolt carrier. I am actually going with the YHM bolt on front gas block with flip up sight so hopefully that will help in terms of working better. |
| I've got a 16" midlength I picked up from riflegear about a year and a couple of months ago. that rifle may have 200-300 rounds in it, maybe more, but unlike the other replies, I had no trouble sliding on a YHM clamp on gas block and I've had 0 accuracy issues. I sighted in with 75gr Hornaday Match and was very pleased with results. Barrel finish is superb. I wouldnt hesitate to order another. Hope this helps. |

I have 3 Voodoo barrels. 2 are Ultra-Lites, .625 gas block, mid-length, 14.5". I have 3,250 rnds through mine and my GF's has 2,150 through hers. Both barrels are 1" moa warm and about 2.5" - 3" moa hot, and I mean glove wearing hot. Used PMC Bronze, reloads, IMI, and Geco. 55 grn - 68 grn. We use a H buffer with a standard carbine spring and one with a extra power chrome silicon spring. The other barrel, I have not built to this date.
No problems with the gas blocks on the three. We use the Vltor set screw type. Very good machining quality. I bought these (the barrels) two years ago. Only problems were case gouging from the sharp edges of the barrel extension. Mine have softened up a bit and my GF's still shows wear. Both malfunctioned the first 3-5 rnds, then functioned without problems. I believe they build a quality barrel and both have served us well. Good luck, and tell me if you need any info as far as our set up! |

After hearing high praise here i think i'm going to contact them and see if they will replace the barrel of mine. I have no doubt the barrel itself is a fine product and sometimes things get out of spec. I thought i would post this follow up to my "out of spec" barrel that i previously commented on. I measured the diameter at the gas port and the barrel is .759" at the gas port which is obviously above .750. I have been communicating with Cody at Adams Arms over the last week and they are issuing me a replacement barrel at no cost to me (not even the return shipping). I have to comment that i am very impressed with their customer service and would still recommend their barrels to anyone. |
