I currently have a run of the mill Bushmaster, and I want to build a higher end AR so I picked up a Stag Arms forged stripped lower yesterday. This will be the start of my AR build. I know i will have a lot of questions for this build since this is the first AR that I will be building.
I will mainly be using this as a range gun and maybe some varmint. I would like to start shooting at 100 yards and then work my way up to longer distances. I have decided that I want to go with a 18" or 20" barrel. I know I want to go with a stainless barrel. I was also thinking about going with a Mega Billet upper. What are the major differences in going with billet over forged? Also what are the main differences in LPK and BCG? I know I will probably have more questions in the future, so any and all help will be greatly appreciated. As well as all recommendations and advise. |

So .223 right? Rainier Arms .223 wylde match barrel I was also thinking about going with a Mega Billet upper. What are the major differences in going with billet over forged? NO. In my opinion it is for looks and people with deep pockets, and it would look weird on a forged lower. If you go billet I suggest getting a set (upper and lower) from the same manufacturer... Also what are the main differences in LPK and BCG? Quality... I can recommend Spike's, RRA, WMD bcg, PSA lpk is alright, just don't get super cheap stuff... I know I will probably have more questions in the future, so any and all help will be greatly appreciated. As well as all recommendations and advise. Get a nice trigger, like a Geissele ssa-e. Also, you might as well get a nice free float rail system. Get a light weight and slim one..like this it's better than thick and heavy... Good luck. Edit: Most Important things to consider when building an AR. 1. Your budget 2. Barrel 3. Bolt Carrier Group 4. Optics 5. Trigger That's just my thoughts on it.. not exactly in that order but something like that lol |
