Hey everyone just joined today cause I'm doing a lot of research for buying or building my first AR-15. I just don't know where to turn. I was thinking of buying/building from black rifle syndicate in particular this rifle.

I don't know if anyone has anything bad to say about them all I can find is good things.

Build. You are in a good spot for assembling your own it being a few days from Black Friday.
Get a complete upper and piece out the rest. Spend under $900 and be able to afford a good optic.

Don't know anything about that company.

What's your budget?
What will you use it for? HD, paper punch, hunting?

Ok great BRS is having special with the uppers so I'll start there. I want to spend between 1,200 to 1,500 dollars. I'll use it for everything defense, range, but no hunting here in NJ you can't use a rifle to hunt.

I just joined as well for the same reason.  I already have a lower with LPK installed (waiting on a buffer tube assembly and buttstock in mail).  I'm just torn between what kind of upper I should get.  I've been eyeing up the Black Friday deals stag arms has and was curious if I should go that route or piece together my own upper.  I really like the look of the mid length 16" with the A1/A2 style stock.  Any suggestions? Would it be stupid to go with a 14.5 barrel with a Perm FH? I live in the thickett of Missouri, so I don't really plan on shooting past 300 yds. Please enlighten me                                     I plan on using this for all of the above.

If you're talking about that upper that's on sale for "$450" with a remaining balance of $449 due, I'd pass. Don't fall for cool looking pics, check the specs of everything you want to purchase before spending a pant load of money. black rifle sindicate has no specs of the upper other than finish, barrel length and twist rate. You could buy a way better upper for way less. Check out bravo company manufacturing, Daniel defense, spikes tactical, etc... they wont have the rail system that the brs upper has, which is what probably has you hypnotized, but they make top quality stuff. My $0.02.

Quality, but that quality is over priced. I can build an upper of Very similar quality for less.

That rail is $199.95
A Spike's Upper with parts $109
A BCM barrel for $239 EDIT:Or this CHF DD barrel for $279
A similar muzzle device for$10
A low profile gas block for $30

total= $588 or $628

Overpriced by about $200 or $160

Think about it.

Yeah, you're right. You can build it for less, I just did a quick search  for a complete upper so it would be more apples to apples for the OP.

FWIW the barrel would be $309 unless you know where you could get a BFH bcm barrel at the standard barrel price. If you're really going to break it down, you have to look at shipping costs of sourcing parts from five different vendors, add in the gas tube/pin, and factor in any tools OP will need to see the actual total cost. In the end it would still be cheaper to build it, but not by $200.

And, unless OP already has them which I doubt since it's his first build, a vise block, torque wrench, barrel wrench, etc.

Which all adds up.

Just on their Facebook. The guy who runs it is a veteran from iraq so i don't think it would be absolute crap.

Also how do you think it would be a crap rifle? Like why should we not trust them? Compared to say, Daniel Defense, speaking of DD I just might buy one of their rifles they look to be the best on the market right now.

I didn't say they were crap. I said they aren't well known and they don't list specs of their products. When both of those things coincide, you're taking a risk and an expensive one at that.

$900 and no specs.  I would want to see them all, BCG and barrel

You could get a Rainier Combat upper for a grand

I just snagged a Daniel Defense MK18 for $900

You should look at something you know has been proven.  These newer companies have been coming out of the woodwork lately.  They might be solid, who knows?  But they should list their specs if they stand behind their product.

The tales of 2013 and "deposits" for items they don't have are HORRIBLE.  New startups have been taking people's money to fund their business, and then evaporate.  Not saying these guys would do that, but I am not giving any money to an unknown for something they don't have.  It has been a rough year around here for that.  100s of threads about bullshit new companies.
