i have put together 3 separate plans
but for the sake of not having a wall of text i am just going to post #3. the build i am most likely going to go through with. my questions are: am i missing anything? ice arms NiB bcg or spikes tactical? (this one has probably been covered but ill throw it out there anyways) should i get a 16" barrel with a carbine length gas system or an 18" with a mid length gas system? this ar will be for messing around in the desert (hiking/target shooting decent groups at 300 and hopefully out to 500 yards as i get better) and if need be, SHTF gun well this is what i have in mind so far. nothing is set in stone; and i am open to suggestions. the most important question being "Am I missing anything?" •build #3 $1300~ danger close lower $125 danger close upper $105 ice arms NiB BCG $150 BCMGUNFIGHTER Charging Handle $50 ice arms barrel $209 troy alpha rail $140 ice arms lowpro gas block $25 troy buis $200 bcm buffertube kit $60 magpul ctr $60 magpul moe grip $20 vltor sling plate $20 ice arms muzzle break $65 |

LPK and gas tube oo forgot to type that out! daniel defense lpk $70 aaahhh a gas tube. i totally overlooked that. is there a particular kind that i should look into that would suit my needs? also, is there anything else i should add to my parts list to put together a fully functioning rifle? |

i was thinking one of these 3
the first 2 have the same picture and im kind of wondering if the pic is the medium contour or heavy. im hoping its the medium because i like the look and would rather have medium http://www.icearms.us/products.cfm?show=900 http://www.icearms.us/products.cfm?show=901 http://www.icearms.us/products.cfm?show=908 i think the upper comes with the dust cover and forward assist, but ill check again hahaha and of course ammo. kinda wondering if i should build something less expensive so i can buy a lot. im not too familiar with the 556 so ill have to do some reading and "hands on research" out in the desert. for science of course hahaha edit** just saw that link after i posted this. gonna check it out right now |

damn.. looks like im going with a spikes bcg or blackheart one guy mentions getting an ice barrel aim is aim aimsuplus.com? |
| The type of gas tube you will need will be determined by the barrel. They all have their own specific lengths but as far as disadvantages/advantages over one length vs. the other I am not very knowledgable but I know there is plenty of research online. The only other thing would be a LPK which was mentioned. If the upper is stripped you will need the forward assist assembly and dust port cover which are three pieces to each of those. Also as well as ammo goes, a lot of people have their own opinion but me personally, unless you go through the trouble to test and see if your rifle should shoot 556, just stick with .223. It eliminates all the worry. Hope you have fun building your AR! |

I ordered one of the shadow ops blemished Nib BCG's and it was sweet. I ordered 2 more and one was pretty rough looking, but still functioned. I plan to order 5 more real soon(when they come back in stock) as I am OK with the finish as long as they work as intended. BTW, I have about 2K rounds through the first one and no problems at all.
