You have 2 sizes of buffer tubes. Commercial and Mil-spec. Most replacement stocks work on one or the other.

Edit: Here

The collapsible carbine stocks generally fit two types of receiver extensions. Sized either to commercial/large diameter or mil spec type sized in standard diameter so they slide over the tube with a nice fit. Measure the outside diameter of your carbine receiver extension for proper size. See previous posted link for measurements.

The rifle type stocks, both A1 and A2 types, fit over a rifle sized receiver extension. The rifle extension does not work with collapsible carbine sized stocks.

You didn't tell us what you have.

what he said.

if you have an A2 style fixed stock. then just pick a stock kit you like. it will come with everything you need. pick what you like and enjoy. just make sure you match the buffer to your gas system.

i have a M&P15 with a non adjustable fake collapsable stock, i have a spikes complete lower that has a collapsable (pinned at position 2). so i want the shorter stock on my otherwise stock M&P and then put the longer one on the Spikes. i want the M&P to be the short fun gun with a holo site then i want to build the spikes lower into a 20 inch precision shooter.
