| i encountered a problem while shooting yesterday. i dunno if its the ammo or the gun. what is happening is that it was striking the primer and not firing. i shot 2 different ammo and used 2 different bolts. it started after about 100 rounds then seem to get worse. only thing i can think of is the hammer is not hitting hard enough. any help would be much appreciated. |
| tula ammo and monarch i assembled the lower. its not the first time i been out with it i got about 1500 rounds threw it since i built it a few months back. i usallly dont clean my ar but i had done a full disassemble of the upper bolt didnt touch the lower just wiped it with a rag so it was clean. its denting the primer on the round. id just throw it back in the clip and they would fire with a second strike. it just seemed really odd. |

As mentioned by some others, you likely have the spring installed incorrectly. The hammer will fall but not hard enough for proper ignition. Get a known correct example ( actual gun or picture) and compare and correct No worries, many have done this including myself By the way, if you look at a primer after cycling a round through ( without firing) you will note that the firing pin always comes in contact with the primer, making a light dent. ALWAYS KEEP THE GUN POINTED IN A SFE DIRECTION.... Over several decades, most of the unintentional discharges I have seen were usually over basic safety violations and or carelessness. Don't be one of them. |

There may be more going on with your rifle but both choices in ammo are very likely to be causing the issues. Tula and Monarch aren't known for having the most reliable ammo. |

Ok, so if I read this correctly, you have 1,500 rds through it, you cleaned it, and now you're having light primer strikes? Think about it. Take the BCG apart, clean and lube it. Inspect everything. Maybe you left a chunk of junk in there that is causing your problem. After 1,500 rds it is unlikely that the hammer spring being installed wrong suddenly caused problems. Look at it anyway, won't hurt. |

Hammer spring may be totally kaput, but you're thinking it's doing something due to the floating firing pin... |
