I installed a DPMS dust cover on my stripped upper yesterday and the detent seems to be too tight for proper operation. I have a JP upper. Has anybody else experienced this and how did you fix it?

what exactly is/isn't it doing?

EXTREMELY hard to close. I haven't put the BCG in yet but it almost feels like it will be too tight for the BCG to open it.

Try some lube on it yet?

Have ran into this on my last two builds as well.  Fix was to open and close with hand about twenty times.  Dust cover now closes and opens correctly.  The other required a small diamond bur to clean the detent pocket on the upper.  Not major surgery but it would pop open at the slightest handling so spec was a little tight.  BtW these were both DPMS brand on Red X uppers.  Switched to PSA upper kit so see what happens with them.

Same as above here, it will break in.  If you have the insert for the upper clamp style action block you can run it back and forth, closing the door each time and it will break in fast.

I've had to straighten a slightly bent trap door before.  Noticed it before I installed it into the upper.

It bends back straight really easy.
