What's a billet upper and a modular upper?

A billet is made of a solid billet and generally not forged.  Most are stylized and look great especially when paired with a matching billet lower.

A modular upper like the Vtolr MUR allows you to add or remove the forward assist or shell deflector.  Most modular uppers are usually billet as well.

ETA that billet is a solid piece of aluminum billet.

CMMG fiddled with the idea awhile back but I don't think it ever went into production.  Says available for back order, but cannot put on in a cart?????

Understood, to add, the billet is usually cnc'ed from a "bar" of metal. Forged is made by pressing. The forged is stronger (all factors being equal). Although billets are allotted more of a unique design ( this is where the added thickness to weak areas is added).
