Howdy all. In lieu of CA's impending ban, I purchased a few stripped lowers. I'd like to get some LPK's for when I'm ready to build and I'm looking for opinions on best quality/fit/finish.
I've never done any lower builds so in theory I don't know the difference between say a DPMS, POF, or CMMG LPK. Recommendations? |

I built mine with the PSA deluxe kit. I'm not OCD over this stuff but it feels ok to me. It went together just fine but was a little rough when first assembled. Several hundred rounds and several more functional cycles of the trigger and it smoothed out pretty good. |
| PSA has their "MOE QMS"-lower parts kits on sale this weekend for $80.00. While it's not the cheapest LPK available, it should work well for your stated purpose. When you consider the ALG QMS trigger-group itself is $40.00+, the price isn't really that high. Good luck. |

I just built up the last few lowers using ALG ACT hammer trigger and the Brownells LPK.
The ALG ACT is a cleaned up and slightly lightened MIL trigger. I like a cleaned up, smooth, durable, trigger. It will last even with 9mm abuse. I don't care for the modular drop in trigger packs. Seems silly considering the minimal amount of components in a stock trigger system. For fancy triggers, like in my Grendel rifle, or any target rifle, I prefer the JP trigger. You do need to know some gunsmithing because you'll have to remove some metal to fit it properly. If you can't do the smithing NOW we're in the realm of using drop in trigger packs. Hope that helps. ETA.........fixted.

I've gotten LPK's from Windham, DoubleStar, PSA... they're all pretty similar, since they use mil-spec tolerances for the parts. I think I like the trigger feel of the DoubleStar the best out of all of them, though, not much of a difference. +1 on that $80 kit with the better trigger parts from PSA, tho. I might wanna try that in one of mine eventually. The only parts that you'd change afterwards would probably be the hammer and trigger (unless you want an ambi-safety or BAD-ASS type device), so go ahead and pick out some LPK's and use them. Upgrade a couple bits later on if you desire. |

I have used just about every LPK on the market and my choices in LPKs are as follows in order of preference:
1) Colt or Daniel Defense 2) LMT -> only available from one vendor as far as I know and I hate doing business with him 3) White Oak Armament, PSA, CMT/Stag, LWRC, Spikes, Hogan/POF, High Standard, Windham Weaponry 4) RRA, CMMG, JT/(Doublestar), Bushmaster, Del-Ton My DO NOT USE list is as follows: 1) DPMS, most store branded kits, because I have found they are almost always DPMS 2) Model 1 Sales, DSA, M&A Parts The above is only my opinion based on experience and use of ALL of the above mentioned. *** A note on milspec triggers and FCGs.*** People are always judging the LPK they used by how good the trigger feels, this is really not a good measuring device of component quality. Milspec FCGs are hit and miss, and you might buy 10 of the same LPKs and have 2 with excellent triggers right out of the package, or you might have 8 with excellent triggers. Point being, buy quality components, and upgrade the FCG if you want a nice trigger, or go shoot the hell out of it and break in the stock trigger(it will usually get better). |

Thank you all for excellent and detailed answers. I really appreciate it. I'm looking forward to building instead of buying complete. I'm going to have each of my daughters help me to build their own rifles with he upper and stock styles they like. Just none of that link stuff allowed! Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

If you are a complete stickler for finish, PSA parts look a little less "refined" than other kits I've used. They are still in-spec and function fine, though. It would just appear that they keep their cost lower than others by leaving out small aesthetic machining steps. I'd upload a pic illustrating the differences but PB is down. |

I have used a lot of different LPKs, now all I use is the JP LPK w/o the trigger because I always end up using a Geissele/JP/Timney trigger anyway. JPs stuff is a work of art! I'm probably missing it, but I'm not seeing a LPK on JP's website. Do you need to call them to order it? |
