My question is this, who has purchased a blemished lower from PSA and if so what blemishes did you find on it.  What qualifies as a blemish to PSA?  Is it just cosmetic? or can it be things like the treading for the buffer tube is the wrong threading? Just want to make sure if I make the purchase, it will be functional in a build that I want to do.  Thanks.

I assume it is basically defined by what Aero has on their site: http://aeroprecisionusa.com/shop/ar15-stripped-lower-receiver-w-cosmetic-blemishes

I can't remember ever seeing what I'd consider a "Blem" on any that I've bought from them....YMMV

I bought two about a year ago and the "blemish" was that the finish was a little thin in a couple of spots.  I couldn't find them.  I've bought blemished uppers from BCM that had very minor dings or scuff marks.  If you use your AR at all, you'll "blemish" it far more than they are when you get them.

I've had two PSA blemished lowers. One had a couple small indentions near the rear of the lower, and the other I couldn't really find anything I would deem a flaw.

Got one yesterday.  Did not find anything that made me regret my decision.  Actually, didn't really find anything, but your results may vary.

They are good to go and a great deal.  I have never had an issue with any PSA blem.  Go for it.

More than likely they won't have a mark on them that you would pick up by casual inspection. I don't know what their criteria are for a "blem lower". I've built on a couple psa lowers including them blem lowers...no issues. GTG

I bought two blem lowers and I can't find anything wrong with either of them. Side note, I bought them at the same time and they are consecutive serial numbers. Which leads me to believe they just pull lowers from the line and call them blems.

Just found out mine ships in 5 days!  Pretty excited. Really glad to see this thread.  They've got complete blem lowers for $189.  Too good of a deal to pass up.

This is great to hear everyone. Thanks for your input, it means a lot.  I am working on my first build (and my first AR) :-D I am pretty stoked at this point.  Trying to keep it in budget for now, and I have found some quality parts on sale in various places.  I shall post a list once I have everything finalized!

I have purchased two blemished uppers and two blemished lowers and on each one of them the "blemish" was a white mark that came off when I rubbed it with my thumb.  PSA blemished uppers and lowers and an AMAZING deal and are equal to anything put out by DD or BCM, IMO.  I would HIGHLY recommend getting a blemished PSA lower.  You can't beat the price!

You definitely picked the right company to begin your build with!  Congrats on your first build!  I can't think of anything more satisfying than building my first AR!!  \m/

Buying a blem is the only way to go. Most of the time it's next to impossible to find anything wrong.

If you do, it's purely cosmetic.

I just bought an Aero Precision blemished lower. Some very small pits in it. Very hard to see.

I have 4 Blem PSA Lowers.  I can not tell the difference between them and the 5 Regular PSA lowers I have.  My FFL counldn't find any issues with the Blem's when he received them, he refinishes firearms on the side as well.  We boht looked them over and couldn't find any issues.  They all built just fine.

Got mine last year also. The only thing I can see the coating has some waves. Unless you look hard it looks perfect! Buy it and enjoy it!

I have two and there is a really small finish difference about the size of a pencil lead at the rear of the receiver.  No fuctional difference at all.  Good deal if u can snag one.

The one I bought had thin anodizing where the reciever etension threads in, I'm pretty sure my assembling it made that issue non-existant

I have two and they are GTG.  Only slight cosmetics, usually on the corners.  The last one I got I couldn't find any blemishes.

It will be a cosmetic blem.

I have a PSA blem lower and honestly I have bought non-blem lowers with more marks on it than this one.  Theres nothing wrong with a PSA blem lower.
