| Recently got a ff tube installed on to notice that to my horror the FSP is slightly canted to the left... What can I do to forgo removing the whole FSP? I know some would say just adjust your rear sight but Im OCD so it's driving me nuts. Any advice? Was thinking of using a strap wrench to torque the whole setup a little to the right. Again any advice (other than leaving it) would be appreciated. Can this even be fixed? And is it a common mistake? |

Also if you still have a FSP then you do not have a free float tube. My recommendation is to cut it off and get a true ff rail. It's easy to do yourself. |
| It's PSA. And I really didnt want the long rail tryin to make this carbine as light as possible. Plus I don't comp shoot. I believe I have discovered the problem. When bolting the FF tube I believe it was aligned wrong so that it gave the illusion that it was centered. Once I adjusted the tube to be in line with the upper is when I noticed the slight canting. It's to the left to from what I've heard it's better to be under torqued than over. I think i may have figured a way out to align it but idk if the tube will take it. I'm gonna align it with the fsp and lock it in with its crossbolts then apply some heat to the nut from either a blow dryer or burning a few mags up(I'd enjoy this more :) ) then I'm gonna strap wrench it and give it some ummfff ( 70lbs or so) and get it aligned.. I'm just relying on the tube to hold true though. I appreciate your input btw |

You can have both a FSP and a Free float. I have one on my AR using a DD 9.5 FSP. It's cut out to allow the rails to go around the FSP without touching it. OP Did you try taking the FSP loose and reinstalling it? Not sure just arbitrarily wrenching it to one side is the best bet here. You don't want to damage something else in the process. |

Your idea of torqueing the barrel nut some will not rotate the barrel at all. There is an index pin that prevents it under the barrel nut. If you absolutely cannot live with it, your options are: 1 Replace the barrel. 2. Have Adco or some other shop replace and repin a new tower. 3. Get a clamp on FSP assy and remove this one, clamp the new one on, centering it to your OCD's content, |

do not do a clamp on gas block!!!
ew yucky gross do it the right way. 1. get punches and knock out the taper pins 2. remove the FSP 3. remove the gas tube. (in between will be a good time to install the barrel nut for the new rail. 4. install a micro gas block a. tighten one of the two screws b. dimple the barrel c. install the screw with red loctite d. remove the other screw and perform steps a-c micro gas block are only about 30 bucks |

I thought the pinned ones couldn't move so that's why I thought about torqueing the barrel nut to shift he whole thing a little to the right You don't understand how the barrel is installed. The barrel can only be installed one way, and that is with the index pin lined up properly with the upper. The barrel nut simply tightens the barrel to the upper, it doesn't control the way the barrel is aligned. Look at a breakdown diagram of an AR to get a better understanding, or watch a YouTube video of a barrel install. As previously mentioned, only fix is a new barrel, clamp on gas block, or having a gunsmith fix the taper pin grooves. |
