So i started out with a mossberg MMR tactical. Upgraded to a PSA chrome lined upper. Put a new stock, grip, and hand guard on it (magpul) and put on a 1-point sling. Its functioning very well, but im wondering if i should be concerned about any of the other parts, and by this i mainly mean the BCG. Do you guys think i should replace it? Also should i change anything else on the rifle? I dont really waste money when i upgrade because a guy i know buys all the stuff i take off it haha. Please dont tell me to sell it and buy a colt or DD. Im 18 and going to college this fall, i need to keep it as cheap as possible. However i would like suggestions on what to change, and i will work on it as the money comes in.
Since you have little chance of going into ground combat on a daily basis and don't have money to piss away just so you can say your stuff is HP and MP tested only replace what is not functioning. Do a cost/benefit decision on anything you change and you will have a rifle that YOU like and trust.
The best thing for you to do is take it to the range and shoot, shoot, shoot. Make a note of any failure and anything you don't like (comfort, weight, balance, etc.). Fix those things that are broken and change those things that you are uncomfortable with. In short, shoot it until you wear the finish off of it. By that time, you will have a good feel for the weapon and will be confident with it in your hands. I have many guns that I like the specs of but have spent very little range time with. On the other hand, I have guns that I have put countless rounds through, and these are the ones that I have confidence in. One well used rifle beats a safe full of high dollar queens that look good on paper but are otherwise unproven.
