I've been lurking these forums for a while now and am currently on my first build. Decided to go with a Geissele SSA trigger for my stripped lower. I installed it along with my LPK about a week and a half ago and placed it back in my safe. Decided to install a billet mag release and when I pulled it out the Trigger had rust spots all over it. I oiled the trigger just like the instructions said. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

No sign of rust on mine. Its been built for a couple months and has about 500 rounds on it.

That doesn't look like an SSA.

I have a few, but never had an issue with rust. Looks like an SSA hammer to me, M4, what makes you think it's not?

Heres a different angle. And it's definitely a SSA guys.

Tail of the hammer looks different than the pictures on the website. Did they make a change to the hammer over the years?

The hammer looks correct.  I think the different hammer you're referring to may be the SSF which is the select-fire version of the SSA.

The machined part seems more squared off than I remember my SSA to look.  Out of curiosity I'll open up both of mine tonight to compare. I've got one I just purchased, and one from around when the SSA was first released.

Edit: Just reduced the contrast on that photo, yes looks normal now. Pictures can deceive.

Talked to the Geissele shop and the guys were super helpful. They told me to clean it and If I wasn't satisfied they would replace it. I'm going to spray it down with some WD-40, clean it, leave a light coat of oil on everything like they said and just keep my eyes on it. If it returns I'll send it back. Customer service couldn't have been better.

GA is known for their excellent customer service. Plus, when you call, you get one of the guys in the shop. They don't have customer service reps that couldn't give a shit less.

Mr. Geissele, are the Super Dynamic line of triggers also finished in black oxide? My SD-E seems to have a very smooth, polished look to it.

I use "Fluid Film" to coat my parts being a non-toxic, solvent free lubricant that is lanolin based. It also doesn't evaporate, it doesn't freeze, and it is thixotropic. It's an old, old-school lubricant and protectant from the 1940's that was made for US Naval Warships during WWII to coat their bilges.

Any CLP will take care of that. Bigger issue is the humidity it your safe.

...the 2nd reason I keep buying your triggers, incredible customer service.

I've had rust on the trigger after a long day of shooting. Not surprising from all the sweat and acids from my finger. A brass brush and clp cleaned it right up.
