| any of you use bought and used this tool? comments |
| I own / use the tool and am very satisfied with it. I was looking for a Gessle reaction rod but they were unavailable, so I bought the Brownells tool, now I'm glad I got the less expensive alternative. Here's how the Brownell's tool works. You put your barrel nut tool (BNT)in the vise, you then put your receiver / barrel assembly. onto the BNT . The Brownell's tool is then put into the rear of the receiver and the lugs of the chamber. A 1/2" drive ratchet or torque wrench is used to turn the assembly and tighten the barrel nut which stays stationary in the vise . The entire receiver / barrel rotates. the tool can also be used outside of a vise, but it takes 3 hands to do it. The reaction rod has flats that go into the vise and and torque is applied via the barrel nut. You get the same end result with a slightly different method of getting there. As stated earlier, I'm pretty satisfied with the tool. Brownells also offers a long handled BNT that completely encircles the nut, it has multiple lugs that engage the nut and minimizes the chances of marring the nut / barrel. This BNT gives you a lot of handle to put in the vise and apply torque. Hope this helps |
