Ok so after talking to my buddy... I decided I wanted to build an ar to shoot just for fun at the range. At first I figured I would buy a piece here and a piece there and build it slowly.

Fast foward to yesterday, I received another summer bonus from work so as drake said. Started from the bottom now we here.

Good parts list, shawn.  Get the parts while you can, there is talk among Cali legislators about an outright ban on semi auto rifles.  Once you get it all together, then you will inevitably start thinking about upgrades.  For example the pistol grip, buttstock and trigger.  Have fun - CW

thanks! I wanted to stay close to my budget but......didn't want to sacrifice quality.  Just ordered magpul front and rear sights along with an angled grip.

You're doing an 80% lower for your first build?  Do you know what an 80% lower is and what is involved in building one?

My first build was on an 80% lower. Had never even shot an AR before I decided to just go for it. Ended up doing 4 more. I agree with the premise of the question though. It probably isn't for everybody.

I'm lucky and have the guidance of my buddy who is on his third 80% build lol....by myself I would of not gone 80% lol.

About to order a voodoo riffle bag. Was gonna get something cheap but the voodoo one looks nice and it can also hold my glock 23.
