I decided to build my first AR myself, and had a $1000 budget. Took her out to the range this past weekend and it functioned flawlessly. Just added the optic today, so will have to go back out and sight it in. Went with a SOTA arms upper and 16" barrel, SLR lower (locally made in FL), Rock River Arms lower parts kit, Spikes BCG, UTG 9" Free float rail and hand guard, and a phantom flash suppressor. Went with a Lucid red dot as well.
