The last AR15 I built had a standard A2 upper. That was over 20 years ago. I just got the RGuns flat-top upper and carrying handle that I ordered over a month ago today (YAY! :D). Never having handled or used a flat-top upper and removable carrying handle before, I have a number of questions. First, I noticed that once I had the handle mounted on the upper, I can slide the handle forwards and backwards slightly, until the thumb nuts are tightened up. Am I supposed to slide the handle forwards, or backwards, until the two mounting bolts running through the carrying handle contact the front or back of the slots they are running through? Or do I just slide the handle until its front edge is flush with the front edge of the upper?
For that matter, is there a "rule of thumb" when it comes to mounting optics and other accessories to the tops of flat-top receivers? I notice the slots are actually numbered - what purpose does that serve? |

Carry handle mounts flush as far forward as possible. As for mounting optics, thats up to you. Eye relief and preference is all that matters here. The T marked upper has numbers so you can add and remove accessories as needed and remount in same location as before.
