I just got around to finishing my build, i am having issues with the detent spring for the take down pin near the buffer tube. The spring does not go in, seems like if the hole is smaller in diameter than the spring. Lower is PSA and so is the LPK.

I had the lower cerakoted but i scratched the shyt out of the hole with the roll pin and nothing, i just sent an email to PSA.

What do you guys think i should do? This is holding the build, everything else is done.!!

Putting wrong spring in? which means you've got detent spring somewhere else or they sent you one spring that was wrong.

You should have two identical takedown springs, one slightly larger selector spring and one larger buffer pin spring.

The spring you need should be the greenish one in the lower parts kit from PSA.   They may have changed the color though.

Grab this and print it. It's from our Build It Yourself archives.

It's possible that you got ahold of the selector spring by mistake.

It happens.

Did you do the "rear detent mod" also? great lil 5 min. mod , it basically captures the rear detent spring with a set screw, so if you change out stocks etc it wont go flying.

If you have it all assembled now, you may not want to mess with it...

Some lowers are already prepped (no tapping required)

I posted this same topic yesterday. The thread should be in the first couple pages. In it someone linked the items you need at amazon. I ordered 100 set screws for 4.00. Tap for 2.50,Allen wrench that came with more screws 3.00 and the tap holder for 7.00. (They have a cheaper one for 4.00.) I should have it all by Friday. A lot of lowers are coming pre-tapped now. Spikes and aero to name a few. I also like the trigger guard mod.

For those interested in the mod, you can get those tiny set screws from a hobby store in your area and only need a tap (forget what size), it literally takes a few minutes

My Aero lower came tapped from the factory. It is a 4-40 thread. I picked up some set screws at Ace Hardware.

Be very careful about what you buy on Amazon.
There is legit stuff and there is Chinese crap all mixed together.
Know your complete product description beforehand....

Unless you live out in the boonies, purchase the few items needed for this mod at your local hardware store.
