Long story short, I had a few extra parts lying around and the addiction got to me so I decided to build a no-expense-spared AR. I'm experimenting with few parts from a German AR manufacturer (HERA ARMS). My goals for the build were as follows; complete ambi controls, ultra low recoil, good flash suppression, and of course, extreme reliability and accuracy. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
Lower: -Black Rain Ordnance stripped lower -RRA lower parts kit (only used springs and detents) -Phase 5 Tactical extended bolt release -Battle Arms Development ambi safety selector -KNS anti-rotation pins -Noveske take down pins -PWS enhanced buffer tube -Spikes T2 buffer w/ flat wire, chrome silicon buffer spring AND JP silent captured spring (going to experiment on which to actually go with permanently) -Magpul MIAD -Magpul ACS -Geissele SD-E trigger -Seekins Precision mag release button Upper: -Hera Arms HUS upper (GERMANY) -Rainier Arms Raptor charging handle -RCA black nitride bolt carrier -JP enhanced bolt -Noveske 15" NSR KeyMod rail -Rainier Arms 14.5" Ultramatch barrel (Shilen blank, 416 stainless, mid-length gas system, button rifled w/ ratchet rifling, hand lapped, .223 Wylde chamber) -Battlecomp 1.5 -JP mid-length gas tube -Troy .750 gas block -Troy front grip Sights: -Troy flip-up sights Optics: -Aimpoint Micro H-1 (don't need the night vision capability) (INBOUND) Magazines: -Magpul 30rd pmags -Lancer Systems L5 20 rd mags -Hera Arms windowed 30 rd mags (GERMANY) |
| I have only had a few weeks experience with them. So far, so good. I like the texture of the Magpuls better, the HERAs seem like they could be a bit slick with gloves or when wet. I do like the window on the HERAs much better than the windowed Magpuls. Both are quality mags. I will give a more in depth review when I have enough time to form an honest opinion. |
