so I have daniel defense 16 in barrel on the way but its stripped. I am about to order the front sight base, but im thinking i might go with the magpul MOE handguard until august when i can afford the DD Omega rail. My question is how is the handgaurd cap attached to the front sight base?

It's not directly attached to the front sight base at all. There's a step in the barrel and the cap is sandwiched between that step and the gas block/front sight base.
