I am building up a KISS A2 rifle and the magwell is tight. Some metal mags work fine but some are tight and won't drop free. Pmags are a tight fit. Any ideas?

Work it out a bit My last lower was the same way metal mags did ok but where tight p-mags and CAA's stuck like chuck so all I did was sit and work the tightest mag I had ( the CAA ) back and forth in the mag well and wore it down a bit. Everything slides and drops just fine now. I have seen other people here say a light sanding of the magwell is quicker to knock down the over coating.

Thanks for the tip. I'll do that.

Yep just break it in and it should be fine.  ALso check your mag release to be sure it's tight enough.....

What brand of lower?  That way I know not to ever buy one.

After many cycles on the mag I saw that the trigger guard was intruding into the magwell. A little file work and all of my mags drop free. It is an Anderson lower. This was the only snag in the build so far. Barrel comes in Tuesday.

I had that issue with a Troy carbine.
Some metal mags would do OK, some kinda tight. Troy mags and Pmags were not good at all and took some effort to get them in.

I inserted the tight metal mags in and out while watching TV. I looked for the rub areas in the mag well. I took a small file and did a little work on the tight areas of the mag well.
That worked fine for the metal mags but the Pmags and Troy mags were still tight and would not drop free.

To solve the Pmag problem I removed the upper and  used Fabric Tack glue and glued some wet and dry sand paper to a Pmag and forced the mag in and out of the mag well. The wet and dry paper gets loaded up quickly so it has to be changed a couple of times.

Now all mags drop free. I took some Beachwood Casey Aluma black and touched up the mag well interior.

My Anderson Lower went together with no issues and all my Pmags Gen 2, Gen 1 and Lancer AWD all fall free both loaded and unloaded with no tightness at all.  I am using a MagPul Enhanced Trigger  Guard and nothing is protruding at all!.

Put about 1000~ Rounds thru it all types of Ammo, Wolfe, Tula PMC, All .223 and Winchester and Federal XM193 5.56 all with no failure to feed or eject.

My new build using the Aero Precision lower is tight with p-mags as well.  Luckily I'm a USGI junky and don't have too many p-mags, but the thought of breaking it in with one did occur to me.
