I need a Vltor A5 spring and buffer kit. Out of stock everywhere, some places won't take backorders.
Some fellas have had them ordered since last December and haven't received them yet. My Question. The kit uses a common rifle length spring, a castle nut, and end plate, these I can get easily. Only thing I need is a 5.3 oz. buffer. Is there a reason I couldn't go with another brand new 5.2 oz. buffer, or open up a new buffer and re-weight it to 5.3 oz's. I have a Valtor A5 tube and a Magpul ACS-L stock that will fit the tube, just need the internals. Will be used on a BCM upper with a 20" BCM barrel. Seems like an easy fix, or am I missing something. Thanks. |

Thanks. You can't use a different buffer than the a5. The a5 also uses a proprietary spacer. Idk if the weights themselves are the same as a carbine. I see the kits go in and out of stock a lot, but I rarely see the buffers come up for sale. Good luck. |

The Vltor buffer is essentially a shortened rifle buffer, so a stock "carbine" style buffer is too short. If you try using a standard carbine buffer your bolt carrier will cycle too far into the receiver extension and can start to hammer the rear of the receiver.
Hold out for the parts you need, don't try to phone it in. I unwittingly was given a Vltor tube now I need a spring and buffer too. I don't have an upper so I'm not worried about getting the parts right now. |

Thanks for the responses fellas. I guess the folks at Vltor know more than I and
went through the trouble to test and design the parts to work together just right. I did place a backorder for one of the spring and buffer kits. I guess I'll just forget about it and be patient until it arrives. Bravo has the A5 tubes, but no kits. I hate it when this happens. Many thanks again. |
