I purchased a stripped lower from a manufacturer who does not sell stripped upper receivers, only fully assembled uppers (barrels, hand guards, etc.). Since I want to build this rifle completely from scratch, I want to make sure I buy an upper receiver that matches well with my lower. I placed my lower receiver onto my Sig M400 upper, and the two parts did not match up very well so I’m concerned about buy any ole mil-spec upper from joe blow.
My question is, if I can find another upper receiver with identical forge marks, will this guarantee a good upper & lower receiver match? If so, can someone ID this forge mark? http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y81/LoudmouthLT1/P1000654.jpg |

I purchased a standard configuration stripped upper receiver from Aero Precision, and they have that same keyhole marking. Which I read on here somewhere, someone mention that Aero Precision gets there upper receivers from a certain forge; which the name I do not remember.

Ok, thanks for the info. Incase anyone else can help me out, my lower reciever is from Special Ops Tactical. btw, I'm not too concerned with the finishing matching, just want it to be flush and look like a matched set. As long as both the upper and lower are really Mil-Spec they will mate up without any gaps. |
