| I disagree with Invalid. The lugs are well finished and not even scuffed, not rounded by use, and they DO test fire bolts. But that is a lot of brass marking for a new bolt. Definitely check in with the Bravo Company industry forum and see what the BCM folks say about that bolt. |
| Mine looked like that too. Ordered around 2/18/13. I thought the same thing. I have bolts with hundreds of rounds that don't have that much brass transfer on them. I did some searching and found a thread here (may have been in BCM Industry sub-forum) that dealt with this issue. There were differing opinions but general consensus seemed to be it was normal and G2G. If you hear something from BCM about this I'd be interested in hearing it. |

Yeah, I'll be sending them an email with the attached photos and see what they have to say. I'll update when they get back to me. |

I recieved my bcm bcg today. it looks just like op pic. I took pics and will post later if time. I also pulled the firing pin... nice collar of carbon on there. is that normal? its my first ar guys... don't flame me.
anyhow, I cleaned it up and shot my new build. so much Damn fun!!! |

When you shoot a high pressured Mil SPec high pressure round that is 70,000 psi it will leave brass shavings and fragments on the bolt. That's just proof that they are doing what they say they are doing. That's obvious to see don't you think if it wasn't normal
that they would not have sent it out like that. |
| Looks a little used, but their stuff is GTG. If you go through the trouble of getting a replacement, it will take o a while to get one. Then when you go shooting with it after the first time, it will look exactly the same way it looks now. Just shoot the rifle and enjoy it. |
| Every BCM BCG I've gotten has had a little brass coloring on both the bolt face and the bottom of the BCG. I assumed it was either lubricant or rubbing from test firing. Have one sitting in front of me still in the plastic with that coloration on the bottom of the BCG. I assumed that they use a copper based lubricant, like Never Seez or the stuff that Glock puts on their new guns, during test firing. I think it went away during firing and cleaning, but I'll have to check one of my completed rifles to be sure. |

I just wanted to say thanks for threads like this. I really love reading through them and seeing the images.
I'm getting close to finishing my first ar15 build, so a lot of "how things are supposed to look" I'm just clueless about. Threads like this help tremendously! I'd like to see even more "fresh out of the box" pictures (maybe make a dedicated thread for it?) =) |

Where the hell are all those recent broken bolt pics when you need them? OP, yours won't be among them ![]() BCM bolt . Even quality parts break with usage. This one lasted 13K http://i49.tinypic.com/2it4km.jpg I am sure they do. The pictures I am referring to were of the ones recently that lasted 13. |

Mine is as bad as Alaska's. I didn't care, I was just happy to get a BCM! I was afraid if I'm complained they would take it away.
How screwed up is that?! They could have sent me shit in a bag, labeled BCM and I would have thanked them and said "thank you sir, may I have another?". I really, really need to get off of this computer and leave the AR's alone for a while. |

That is a well-used bolt. The edges are worn a bit from being returned to battery many times. I would be pissed. ![]() ![]() ![]() Exactly, it's perfectly normal for a BCM bolt which has been HP tested. The parkerized finish looks nice and dark so you're seeing a contrast to the lighter brass marks. Go forth and enjoy your new toy dude. |

This one just arrived yesterday no worries this is from the HP round they are all GTG http://i1280.photobucket.com/albums/a485/Redcoupecar/image_zpsc8404d3e.jpg Off topic do I spy a spyderco? Not sure think thats a twin to my edc. |

I hate idiot placards like caution coffee is hot however, BCM might want to label or drop a simple note that the bolt has been fired with a HP round.
Most guys wouldn't realize this if there first AR was a RRA or DPMS. Makes no real difference to me just might save them some customer service overtime. |

Finally pulled the trigger and joined because of this thread and a recent purchase. I can't get a response from BCM. Check out the burr and such on my BC. I've never had an issue with BCM and I know once i get a hold of them all will be okay. http://i965.photobucket.com/albums/ae137/cmallow11/IMG_1702.jpg Wow I just got mine yesterday and it doesnt look like that. |
