I have a colt A2 style rifle length upper.
The front sight does not have a bayonet lug, I want to swap it out for one that does.

what should I look for? (I know about the barrel thickness .75")

I know that not all FSB have pins at the same spacing - Is there a couple "standard Sizes" used here or will I find that they're all a little different?

I have all the hand tools that would ever be required for removal/replacement..

Just get a pre-ban FSB and swap over your front sight post. The taper pins are a bit tough to get out but not bad at all. I have no experience with re-installing though. Just removing.

I've got a carbine that has a bayo lug but my rifle doesnt.
one is 1-1/4" spacing
one is 1-3/8" spacing

I am just curious as to how many different spacing sizes there are for a 0.75" thick barrel.
I'm familiar with the process, im unfamiliar with "front sight base variations" over the years.  (the rifles in question are late 80's, early 90's)
