Hi,
New to the site and starting a build. I'm going to purchase an upper vice block and was wondering if one block fits all. I see them advertise for A2 uppers but will they also fit an A4 as well.
Thanks for your help in advance.

The clamshells like the Brownells will work with an integrated carry handle as well as a flat top.

Spikes Block Works is a different style that improves on the Panther Claw by holding the receiver sideways in the vice.
It is for flat tops only.
There is a US made knock off on Ebay that gets good reviews.

The Geissele Reaction Rod is yet another style that holds via the barrel extension.

Clamps can leave telltale marks on the receiver. I use an internal vise block.

Just take some plastic wrap and give the receiver one wrap.
That will usually mitigate any marks.

There was a thread about this earlier today, I put my comments there: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_4/607604_Which_upper_receiver_block_is_better.html

Thanks for the link. I figured something must have been published already.
