What is a barrel extension and whats the purpose of one? |
| The barrel extension provides a set of locking lugs on the barrel that interface with the locking lugs on the bolt. When they are correctly aligned with each other the bolt is considered to be "in battery" or locked. When the bolt is locked, it can then contain all the forces generated by the round discharging in the chamber. |
