About to build my first upper in the next month - going for a MK18 Mod 1-ish build (this will be a pistol to be SBRed at a future date) What sort of little tips and tricks can you suggest? Any certain tricks to keep things tight? any areas where a drop or two of blue loctite should NOT be added? |

Use proper moly grease on the receiver threads.
Use BARREL vise clamps when installing the muzzle device. Use a "DPMS Claw" or "Clamshell Type" receiver action block when installing the barrel - The idea here is to have more support than just on the lugs when installing. Install the dustcover before the barrel. Install the C ring on the dustcover using needle nose pliers inside a clear plastic bag. Buy a couple extra C rings.
An extra pair of hands is good for the dustcover spring the first time. Blue locktite should ONLY be used on screws of the rail and sight screws. Not on the muzzle device and NOT on the barrel nut. |

Thanks for the advice! When installing the rail, would I install the barrel first using the DD barrel nut for the RIS II, install the muzzle device (AAC Flash Hider), then install the rail? Seems like with as close as the muzzle device will be to the rail it would be a PITA to install it after the rail. MK18Mod1-ish Upper
