Can I mount a rifle free float tube on a mid length 16 barrel?  I know I have to use a low profile gas tube , but thewn I could mount a flip up front sight.  I want to use an aim point or similiar and I doun't like the standand front sight sticking up.

Yes.  Depending on the rail, it can end up feeling muzzle heavy.

And it's a low profile gas block that you want.

Measure where the gas block will be on the barrel and get a rail that's is long enough to cover it.

Check the inside diameter of the rail to make sure it will fit over the gas block.

Yes...

I'd go with this low-profile gas block because it meets ALL of your criteria and it'll be a great value (not to mention that it just looks damn good to-boot!

You can choose from several options... with/without  bottom rail, bayo mount, hooded vs std., sling (or not)....  lots of variations on this!

I got mine at BrightFlashlights.com (here on this sight)

if i use a rifle length forend wouldn't it be better to use a sight that clips on  the rail for the midlength barrel, and not the barrel?
