I've been looking for an AR and have been getting frustrated with finding what I want that's in stock, and usually then it's not set up exactly like I want. I figured I might as well build my own. Never really considered it because I'm not the most mechanically inclined person but after reading the guides here and watching Youtube videos I'm confident I can do it once I pick up a few tools. If I'm going to do it, I'm going to do it right so this isn't a cheap build. Let me know if there are better options or if I'm wasting money anywhere. Also, I know I'm forgetting some stuff I'll need so please point that out, but I have the major stuff covered I think.
Rainier Arms forged upper/lower Rainier Arms ultramatch 16" barrel Battlecomp 2.0 BCM LGB .750 gas block (or any low-pro gas block that's in stock) LMT enhanced BCG (or a Young Mfg. National Match BCG) Not sure which is the better route, both expensive. Rainier Arms ambi charging handle DD lower receiver parts kit Geissele SSA-E Magpul CTR stock Troy alpha rail 13" w/ sight Troy Battlesight rear tritium folding |

looks like a good build sheet. Any reason to go with the BC 2.0 over a BC 1.0 since you're already going to have a legal length barrel? No, I've been going back and forth between a 14.5" barrel though. I guess I should go with the 1.0 with the 16" and a 2.0 with a 14.5". Actually, after checking the differences between the 3 now it looks like the 1.0 is the standard comp, the 1.5 is for 14.5" barrels and the 2.0 is for suppressors. Guess I picked the 2.0 because I may want to class 3 it and get an AAC suppressor down the road. Also starting to think the 14.5" is the way to go because I'm going to want a rifle length 18" barreled AR soon for 3-gun and stuff. This build will be more for a defense gun/playing at the range. |
