| The BCG shortage has been discussed at length. I'm in the market for one and have been checking as many online vendors as I can find. Today I saw one at CTD, but I can't find any info online about it. It's apparently made by IMI Defense, but you can't even find BCGs on their website, so I'm suspicious. Anyone know anything about them? |
| Well I guess we'll know soon, I ordered one. I thought this meant IMI as in Israeli Military but looking now it's IMI Defense so who knows. The image shows the gas key as chrome lined so let's hope it's not BS. I don't really trust CTD but considering how impossible decent/basic BCGs are to come across right now I just went ahead and picked one up. If it sucks I'll throw it in my budget build and just wait for a nice known BCG for the wife's rifle. |

Thanks. I actually just went to Core15's site and saw that they had their basic BCG in stock at $129, so I bought one. Also picked up one of their 2nd generation Hardcore charging handles. Not a lot of info about them out there, but it seemed to be pretty solid for the price. Now i just need a lower, LPK and stock kit. |

I'm not sure I'd depend on their BCGs. http://www.imidefense.com/ Yes, and Magpul is a plastic magazine manufacturer, but I'd be willing to bet that if they sold a bolt/carrier that it would instantly become the best one ever made and the only one officially endorsed on this forum. 
Most retailers marketing BCG's don't actually make them, they just put their name and/or logo on them. 
The more popular the name/logo, the higher the price. If I were looking for a BCG the most important factor would be that the bolt was C158, shot peened, and HPT-MPI. And a lot of the ones mentioned do not list any of these features. |

These are basic AR15 carriers with shrouded firing pins. My BCG came in the other day, I stripped it down and it all looks decent. The gas key and the carrier are chrome lined. The staking is superb, very clean and deep. The bolt came with the insert, and an O ring pre installed for the extracor. I can't find a single marking on this BCG. It feels like a quality unit, good tight fitment where it should be. I sent IMI Defense a message asking about the specs on these, I'm hoping they're made from the proper material. I also went ahead and ordered a Core 15 BCG so I will be able to compare a few of them and take some pics soon. I don't feel so bad paying 119 for this now that I see CDNN jacking the price up to 149
