| Little ar parts be damned. I lost that little snap washer putting in my ejection port door. Is this a gun specific part or do you think the local lowes or homedepot would have it. I know I know its like detents I should have extras on hand. Well I went through the area with a flash light and couldn't find it. |

You might want to bring the hinge pin to a full service hardware store and see if they can match it up.
Also, found this.... OD: 0.1665" Thickness: 0.015" ID: I have no good way to measure that because of the shape, but it's .117" at the widest point behind the bulges. It looks like an E ring, but it isn't. It only has two bulges on the ID, not the normal three. Edit: It looks to be an "external crescent ring". According to this site, it's an XC0012, but the numbers don't match up exactly. It might be special order because of the tight clearance with the upper receiver. For the short term, you might want to find a spring with a .015" wire diameter, and a .125" OD, and clip a coil from that to use while a proper replacement can be found. Also, try a R/C shop near you. All kinds of tiny clips, and springs are used in R/C cars. |
| Its actually a C clip and good luck finding it anywhere locally. I used a snap ring (I forget the size) and cut off the portion that engages the snap ring pliers with a pair of diagonal cutters. I can usually find those locally by the box and they don't get lost when using the snap ring pliers. |
Meh, just leave the port cover off and post pictures of your build. You'll take some ribbing at first but 1 year from now arfcom will make fun of anyone who puts one on their rifle
My only concern with picking a c clip up locally is that it may be uncoated and prone to rust You can make a tool for that clip from a 1/4 delrin punch. Use a Dremel with a grinding tip the same diameter as the clip to concave the end of the punch. Then use a thin cutoff wheel to make a shallow slit in the concave punch face to hold the clip. |
