Okay so I have been lurking for a few days learning the basics before joining.
Haven't really decided the use of this gun...home defense, decent target shooting, or just enjoying my AR obsession with my dad who has 3 ARs (Spike Build, & 2 Fulton Armory Builds.)
I have drummed up a list of parts I'll be using, if you guys could check it out.
If you see something that you probably wouldn't use, tell me, I'm here to learn.
Just a little about me, I'm 20 years old; I do electrical work (in my 2nd year of school for my journeyman license) then headed to school for electrical engineering funded by the miltary (hopefully.)
I'm an active kid, running obstacle races (Spartan Race) 3 mile, 8 mile, 13 mile , kayaking, & road cycling.

Enough talk here's my list...

Any particular reason that you are going with Fulton Armory for most of these parts?

You could probably shop around and find the parts cheaper

Just what my dad recommended and I liked the idea of having the same upper, lower & internals.
The price isn't a big deal since i'll be spreading the purchases out.

Alot of those prices are pretty high.  Most of that stuff you can buy used on the EE here for much less. That's what I would do.

I would also go with a 14.5 middy barrel in a light weight profile. Not carbine... I've used both and prefer the feel and cycling of the middy.

Blem upper somewhere for $60-80 bucks... No need to pay more than that for an upper.

I would go with a Troy flip up rear.  And I too prefer a lightweight middy barrel.

Looks like you have a pretty good build there.

That's a good start, D.  You are wise to choose Fulton Armory receivers, quality counts, esp for the upper.  I suggest you skip the 14" barrel and carbine gas.  Instead order a 16" lightweight barrel with mid-length gas.  That way you can remove your muzzle device at will. - CW

Good advice to go with a 16" mid-gasser.
I wouldn't want to pin the muzzle device that's on the list.....it's going to be loud.

I don't get what is so special about Fulton Armory receivers to command such high prices ?

Also not a fan of the 3x + Eotech.....too much clutter for me.
I'd go Aimpoint or a 1x-4x Vortex PST.

I know I'll get blasted for this, but get a Geissele SSA or S3G trigger for it.

Keep the crappy trigger you get with the LPK as a spare.

Chasw & Direct-Drive: what is your reason for the suggestion of the 16" barrel and mid-length gas?
Besides removing the muzzle device you stated Direct-Drive.
I'm leaning towards the lightweight 14.5" because is weighs 20oz. I believe & length, as I'm not looking for a real long rifle.
Chasw: thanks for the info about the loudness of the talon muzzle brake, I did not know that.
Is there one you would recommend? I want one with a sharp front end.
Also, the price of the fulton recievers is high, in my opinion because people will pay it.
I just knew I wanted a forged mil-spec lower, so I went with Fulton Armory.
As to your suggestions on the optics, I was going to go with a Trijcon Acog, but that doesn't really provide an open view for close quarters.

Everyone else thanks, keep the info coming.

Besides removing the muzzle device you stated Direct-Drive.

As you may know, the 14.5" barrel falls under NFA rules and without a Tax Stamp you must pin and weld your muzzle device to make it at least 16".
Taking off the MD becomes a PITA and it usually gets destroyed in the process.
If you go with a 14.5" you want to be certain about your MD choice if it needs to be pinned and welded.
Mid gas works well on a 16" barrel.

For a typical brake to work it vents to the left and right which sends more sound back to the shooter and anyone in the area.
Look at a Troy Claymore or a YHM.

Have you tried shooting shotgun-style (with both eyes open) at 1x ?
