I need to chop a FSB into a lo pro gas block. I have the colt one (f and <B>2 )that came with a newer colt barrel. Should I just chop it or get a junker to chop up? What say you?

If it's originally pinned to the barrel, and you're not going to change it back, cut the original down.

It's generally a PITA to drill a 2nd barrel to match up with the pinholes in a used gasblock.

I'm not saying it can't be done, but I don't see how it's worth the effort to make a 2nd barrel fit the gasblock pattern.

Just my opinion from talking to people.  I'm not a gunsmith.

I have a BCM and I just ordered a VTAC rail so I'm gonna chop mine when it gets here.. I debated on it for a longest time, but I decided to go for it

I know how you feel, I'm thinking I'll just cut up the existing colt FSB but it seems like a shame though, much rather hack up a junker. I like the Troy  block that covers the original holes but it's almost $60 and I'd really rather have it pinned since the barrel is already drilled

How are you going to finish yours?

I plan on just cutting the fsb with a dremel and then using a file to round everything off.  After that I'm gonna put some Cold Blue or whatever the stuff is called on the bare metal to give it some rust protection... maybe even hit it with a coat or two of Rust-o-leum (sp)... I'm gonna try to make it as neat as I can but the rail is gonna cover it up so I'm not too worried about it
